NEWPORT RETREAT

Newport Retreat

Built for privacy and enveloped in floor to ceiling glass, beautiful sandstone walls, and limestone flooring this home was already rich in texture. However all these hard surfaces required a level of softness to bring in the casual warmth the client sought after. The brief was to create a comfortable relaxed haven and retreat that they could enjoy with friends and family away from their busy and hectic lifestyle.

Our furniture selections were carefully considered with some pieces having to be custom made in order to work with the large-scale floor plates. This ensured that the architecture and interior design by Koichi gelled seamlessly with the interior decoration. We loved bringing in different timbers, mostly charred oak and natural oak, that complimented the joinery and internal finishes.

The magical views from the different levels definitely inspired the decoration palette offering a base from which we added to. Silvery grey tones were enhanced with velvet teal greens, burnt oranges, berry tones, and soft pastels. Colours that were mostly inspired by the client’s existing and new artworks which became a focal point in most areas.
